An update on the GIVE programme in The Gambia.
COVID restrictions prevented a GIVE team from travelling to The Gambia in Spring 2021. However,
GIVE is delighted to hear from our partners in CES that three workshops on Teacher Professional
Development have been conducted in February and March; these workshops with teachers in Early
Childhood Education and in Lower Basic Education were facilitated by Gambian teachers with whom
the GIVE volunteers have worked over recent years. We congratulate them on the success of these
workshops and we look forward to being with them again when the COVID pandemic fades from the
landscape.
GIVE has continued its support for the three Skill Centres, St. Martha’s, St. Peter’s and Presentation,
in retaining qualified teachers and tutors and in carrying out substantial improvements to their
facilities.
